Symbiotic/Parasitic

Exibited as part of 'Prescriptions' at the Beany Museum, Canterbury.

Sculptural book forms responding to the work and creativity of the artist Martha Hall and her personal experience of cancer.

In medical environments, the patient, their body and all that is personal and intimate becomes part of a clinical and increasingly abstract experience. Support of the individuals sense of self, identity and autonomy is central to the therapeutic process. Symbiotic/Parasitic portrays the nature of these relationships. The reading of the book is unpredictable and requires unexpected considerations.
