Tigris (unbound)
The Tigris (unbound) was made in response to Beau Beausoleil's call for poets, printers and artists to join 'An Inventory of Al-Mutanabbi Street'. The projects aim was to 're-assemble' some of the reading material that was lost in the car bombing of Al-Mutanabbi Street (the street of book-sellers), Baghdad, on the 5th March 2007.
The pages number the lives lost and the stitching depicts the profile of the river. When the leaves are read the stitching flows from cream to red, signifying the loss of life but also defining the river as a symbol of the lifeblood of the region.
